May 21

In thinking about the events of last weekend (Christian radio preacher predicting the rapture and massive earthquakes) I thought I ought to draw attention to chapter two of my book The Deep Things of God, where I lay out basic principles that would have kept anyone from taking those predictions seriously, even though they were thought to be based on the Bible. The way the preacher used the Bible was out of line with the principles the Bible itself exhibits when you study fulfilled prophecy.

The best way to understand unfulfilled biblical prophecies is by studying fulfilled prophecies in the Bible. As you work your way from Genesis to Revelation you discover how God moves from prediction to fulfillment, from prophetic word to fulfilling action. Discovering the ways of God helps one keep an even keel when wild predictions are out there. If you don't have a copy of the above book, you can download or buy that book and many others in the website store.

A careful look at fulfilled prophecy in the Bible yields the following principles of prophetic interpretation:
1) God is consistent.
2) God is not predictable.
3) God is creative.
4) God meets people where they are.
5) God often spiritualizes history.
6) God uses the language of the past to describe the future.
7) Prophecy is best understood as (after) it occurs.

For the full implications of the above for May 21 and any future predictions like it, see the chapter that is posted on the main site: Click Here

Do people like last weekend lunatic give Christians bad name and make the messages of the end unheeded even to the curious ears?
If deception will be rampant as we near the end, then truly the stage is even made worse by voices like this.
I have read your books and my understanding has gotten better each time as I do my own investigation. Thank you.

I liked what you had to say about the misled, misguided person(people) of the world.
I have watched your series on satellite at Hope Channel/3ABN...and I love it. Every time I turn to Hope and see you and Gram...it make me stop and listen. Great show with an awesome way of presenting Revelation. I think more programs, of you two are needed. I don't get tired of seeing that series over and over. There is so much that if it is playing again, I hear something new every time. Lots to retain, even when taking notes.
Keep up the good work. I know that Jesus gets the glory for you two, because He shines out of you, Gram and Pamela. His life as touched your lives and Pamela does a great job too.

I,m thankful you chose to study to show yourself approved of God, rightly dividing the word of truth... 2 Tim.2:15

Because of this many people like myself
will bcome able to have a deeper under-
standing of Holy Scripture and a more
effective way of presenting it to others who desperately need it.
